European stocks experienced mixed performance on Monday. The Stoxx Europe 600 index (SXXP) decreased by 0.10% to 452.68, while the French CAC 40 index (PX1) rose 0.29% to 7,184.35. Meanwhile, the German DAX (DAX) showed a decline of 0.11% to 15,813.06, and the FTSE 100 index (UKX) weakened 0.11% to 7,453.58.
Top Performers Among Europe 600 Constituents
Health care/life sciences company Orpea S.A. (ORP) showed the largest increase among Stoxx Europe 600 constituents, as shares added 6.1% on Monday.
Bottom Performers Among Europe 600 Constituents
Shares of leisure/arts/hospitality company Carnival PLC (CCL) fell 12.1%, representing the largest decline among Stoxx Europe 600 constituents on Monday. Shares of food/beverages/tobacco firm Corbion N.V. (CRBN) and media/entertainment company Viaplay Group AB Series B (VPLAY.B) also lost 10.7% and 6.1%, respectively.
Other top five largest decreases among Europe 600 constituents include health care/life sciences company Evotec SE (EVT) and aerospace/defense business Leonardo S.p.A (LDO). Their stocks fell 4.8% and 4.7%, respectively.
Technology Firms Lead Market Gains
On Wednesday, shares of technology company Samhaellsbyggnadsbolaget i Norden AB Series B (SBB.B) saw a rise of 5.2%, while Delivery Hero SE (DHER) added 4.6%. Retailer HelloFresh SE (HFG) and air transport business Wizz Air Holdings PLC (WIZZ) also experienced strong gains with their stocks rising by 4.1% and 3.9%, respectively.
In other news, the pound (GBPUSD) saw a marginal increase of 0.04% against the dollar, and the euro (EURUSD) rose 0.12%. Brent crude (BRN00) added 0.81% to close at $74.61.
Meanwhile, the yield on the 10-year gilt (TMBMKGB-10Y) declined by 1.43 basis points to 4.304%, and the yield on the German 10-year bund (TMBMKDE-10Y) decreased by 4.530 basis points to 2.31%.
